Seven years ago, Ample Hills opened on the corner of a quiet street in Brooklyn. Novice entrepreneurs and new parents, married couple Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna weren’t ready for a never ending line of eager guests. We've grown a lot since then, but at our core, not much has changed. Just like that famous day seven years ago, Ample Hills is a small, family owned and operated business, with Brian and Jackie leading the charge. And we wouldn't have it any other way. We're proud to be members of the small business community!
We're passionate about supporting our fellow small businesses through collaborations: whether it's creating shop-specific flavors, making limited-edition desserts or offering our ice cream on their dessert menus. In fact, we were so wow-ed by the small businesses near our Jersey City scoop shop, we had to spread the word—and published a blog all about them. Local spots give character to the neighborhood, cultivate an authentic relationship with their customers and often can feel like a secret you share with a select few. There's nothing like finding out someone else knows about that little shop in your neighborhood that's become your regular haunt. Today and every day, we encourage you to celebrate the small business by shopping small.
Our Astoria shop-specific flavor, Nectar of the Queens, features greek pastries from Artopolis Bakery.
Running a small business is hard work, but because of the dedication of each of our Amployees, every day is sweeter than the next. We're so thankful for the people that make our ice cream possible, and that includes you! It's our hope that each of our scoop shops feels just as much yours as they are ours—your home away from home.
Two years ago, we teamed up with local pie shop Four & Twenty Blackbirds to create Walt & the Blackbirds: a salty honey frozen custard pie with Nonna D's Oatmeal Lace. Learn more about this past collaboration...and let us know if we should do it again in the comment section below!
This weekend, join us in celebrating the small business community while holiday shopping. Shop small! And while scouring the town for the perfect gift, don't forget to treat yourself. (Shopping is exhausting.) For some self-care this season, stop by our scoop shop. Trust us: you’ve earned it.
