In celebration of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (in theaters December 15th), beloved Brooklyn ice cream maker Ample Hills Creamery announces the launch of three limited-edition flavors in collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm. Inspired by the heroes, villains, and enduring themes of the iconic film franchise, Ample Hills pays tribute to Star Wars with flavors inspired by the films’ narrative, including:
- First Order: To showcase the monolithic, fierce power of The First Order, salted dark chocolate ice cream represents relentless villainy, while cocoa powder, bittersweet chocolate and a dash of powerful espresso reinforce the dark side.
- Resistance: A celebration of the spirit and determination of the Resistance fighters who stand against the First Order, The Resistance is a brown sugar and vanilla bean ice cream with an assortment of mix-ins: passionate, fiery red-velvet ooey gooey butter cake, hard-edged toffee pieces and spirited, hopeful mini marshmallows.
- The Force: Inspired by the harmony and peaceful nature of the Jedi, The Force illustrates the precarious balance between the dark and light side with sweet cream ice cream, swirled with rich chocolate fudge, and set against a galaxy of white and dark chocolate pearls.
“I was obsessed with Star Wars as a kid. Star Wars sheets? Check. Star Wars action figures, comic books and trading cards? Check, check, check. But if you would have told me at age seven that one day I would be making Star Wars ice cream with Lucasfilm, I never would have believed it. It’s the thrill of my adult life to be able to tell these three Star Wars stories through ice cream,” says Ample Hills CEO and co-founder Brian Smith.
“I may not have been quite as obsessed with Star Wars as Brian was, but I did play C-3PO in my third grade play. My dad and I constructed the costume together out of gold oak tag paper and colored yarn, and I perfected my British accent and robotic movements nightly in front of the bathroom mirror. It was by far my greatest role in a school play. I love how our Star Wars flavors help to reveal these childhood memories,” says co-founder and CCO Jackie Cuscuna.
