Do you ship your ice cream? How does that work?
We do! We ship pints of ice cream in five and four packs. It’s packed in a styrofoam container with enough dry ice to last until the evening of its intended delivery day. No ice cream will be in transit for more than 48 hours. If there is a problem and your package is delayed, we will ask FedEx to discard the package and will be refund or reship your ice cream.
My ice cream arrived damaged / melted – what do I do?
Don’t worry, we will reship or fully refund any ice cream that does not arrive to you perfect and delicious. If you have any problems please contact: email@example.com. We will get back to you within 24 hours.
Why do you only ship on certain days?
We are a small operation and because of staffing and transit times, we are only able to offer shipping certain days of the week. We will update the site with this information so you’ll know what day your ice cream will ship prior to checkout.
Do I get a tracking number?
Yes! The day we pack your ice cream, you’ll get an email with a tracking number. If you have any questions about your delivery, feel free to contact Periship: (866) 928-6428.
Do you ship to PO Boxes?
Sorry, we cannot ship to PO Boxes.
I want to order multiple pint packages, is that possible?
Yes and no. You're welcome to order multiple packs of ice cream! Keep in mind, however, that your shipping will be calculated for each box individually.
What about shipping multiple packages to different addresses?
At this time we do not have the ability to send to different addresses within the same order, and unfortunately, you'll need to make multiple orders. If you need help or have questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Why does your pint say “frozen custard” and not “ice cream”?
This is a requirement from the FDA. The amount of egg yolks in our ice cream is above a certain percentage so we have to the label our product as “frozen custard” on our pint containers. But don’t worry, it’s been the same recipe since day one.
What flavors do you have at your shops today?
We are constantly making and rotating flavors. We try to keep our Facebook menu updated with the most up to date offerings. You can see our Gowanus and Vanderbilt menus here. We also update our social channels with new flavors and returning favorites. If there's a particular flavor you're pining for, give us a call and we'll be happy to tell you if it's in stock.
Do you sell your pints in grocery stores?
We do! With 24 stores in the New York City area, and more being added each week, finding a pint of Ample Hills ice cream just got a whole lot easier.
Head on over to our local retailers page for a full list.
Can I order a cake online?

Do you sell gift cards?
We do not currently have electronic gift certificates, but we can certainly mail our paper gift certificates, called "Walt Bucks" after our mascot Walt the Cow. If you'd like to purchase a gift certificate, we can take your credit card info over the phone and mail them to your desired address. Email us at email@example.com to start the process.
Where does the name “Ample Hills” come from?
We take our name from the poem “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry” by Walt Whitman.
What is it, then, between us?
What is the count of the scores or hundreds of years between us?
Whatever it is, it avails not-Distance avails not and place avails not. I too lived-Brooklyn of Ample Hills, was mine.
I have dietary restrictions. Are any of your ice creams gluten free/ vegan/ dairy-free?
Yes! We can accommodate most dietary restrictions. We always carry at least one dairy-free/vegan sorbet at all our locations. The base of our ice cream is gluten free, all our ice creams without cookies and cake and beer are gluten free. Ask your scoopers about specific flavors while you’re at the shop. Please note that while we do our best to avoid cross-contamination, our ice cream is not made in a nut-free kitchen.
Is your ice cream kosher?
Unfortunately, no, our ice cream is not kosher.
Classes are held upstairs at our Gowanus location. (Please note: the classroom is up a flight of stairs and not accessible to all.) Classes last for two hours, include ice cream to eat and usually some leftovers. Classes begin at 7pm. For a list of all the available classes and their dates, please visit our classes page.
Yes! Great idea. We are working on adding more gift functionality to the website (gift messages and cards), but for the time being, we suggest simply purchasing the class and letting the receipt know to leave that date/time free. Once you receive your receipt via email, hit reply and let us know who you’d like us send the class to as a gift, along with their email address. As the class date approaches, we’ll email them a reminder and specifics.
